This is a sea kayak expedition along the eastern coast of Sithonia – one of the wildest and least accessible coastlines in Halkidiki.
The eastern side of Sithonia is fundamentally different from the familiar “postcard” image of the region. Here, the coastline is rugged, raw, and fully exposed to the Aegean Sea. Long stretches without roads or settlements alternate with rocky capes, caves, lagoons, and wild beaches that can only be reached by water.
The expedition follows a linear route – we start from Talata Camping and finish in Ormos Panagias. Each day we move forward along the true coastal relief, without turning back. Everything needed is carried in the kayaks – personal gear, food, and water. Overnight stays are at campsites and selected seaside locations, directly along the route.
The paddling is well balanced – some days involve longer distances, others a more relaxed pace, always adapted to sea conditions. The eastern coast requires focus, navigation skills, and teamwork. This is sea kayaking in its true sense – movement, planning, and adaptation to the sea, not just a casual paddle along the shore.
Eastern Sithonia is a place where the Aegean Sea is deeply felt – through space, wind, and open horizon. There is no mass tourism here, no noisy resorts, and no “ready-made solutions”. There is forward movement, silence, salt on the skin, and a strong sense of journey.
This expedition is for people seeking a real experience, not just a destination. For participants ready to carry their gear, sleep close to the sea, and move in rhythm with the waves.
Sithonia, seen from its eastern side, does not reveal itself all at once – but beach by beach, day after day, with every single paddle stroke.
Program:
From Sofia to Kriaritsi: the beginning of the coastal journey
The meeting is at 05:30 in front of “Vasil Levski” Stadium, and we depart from Sofia at 06:00.
Our first stop is in the Kresna area – time for pastries, supplies, and water before continuing toward the Aegean coast.
Around noon we arrive at Kalamitsi Beach, where we will have lunch and prepare for launching.
All together we unload the equipment and kayaks, hold a briefing, and put the boats into the water. Here we load all the gear that will stay with us for the following days of the route and set off northward.
After the long journey, the first paddle is light and pleasant — about 6 km to Christina Kriaritsi Camping, where we will stay overnight and have dinner.
Located in an area known for its dramatic rock formations and crystal-clear bays, Kriaritsi is one of the wildest and most naturally preserved places in Sithonia. The campsite is set among wide sandy areas and low hills, with views of the open sea and secluded beaches just a few minutes away. In the evening, the area offers silence, clear stars, and that special sense of calm you feel only when falling asleep so close to the sea.
The campsite offers all the necessary facilities for a comfortable evening.
The accommodation prices are 7 euros per person and 7 euros per tent, paid individually directly to the campsite management.

Beaches, small coves, and the coastal rhythm of Sarti
After breakfast, we pack up our gear, load all luggage onto the kayaks, and continue our journey north. Today reveals one of the most beautiful sections of eastern Sithonia – wild shores, rocky horizons, and beaches that are best accessed by water.
First stop – Estrella Beach Bar
Our first break will be at Estrella Beach Bar – a cozy cove with fine yellow sand and calm waters. It’s the perfect place for a short stop, a coffee, or a fresh juice before continuing to the next section of the route.
Second stop – Agridia Beach Bar (lunch)
After a short paddle, we reach Agridia Beach Bar, located on a small, sheltered sandy beach surrounded by granite rocks. This is one of the most hidden and tranquil coves along the route – turquoise water, a shallow lagoon, and natural protection from the wind. Here we will have lunch and enjoy a long break for swimming and relaxation.
Walk in Sarti
In the afternoon, we continue toward Sarti – one of the liveliest and most well-known resort villages in Sithonia. We will land on the beach and take time for a short walk along the seafront promenade and through the old town.
Sarti is known for its wide sandy beach, views toward Mount Athos, and pleasant cafés and small shops that give the place a vibrant southern character.
End of the day – Camping Platanitsi
After our time in Sarti, we head to the final point for the day – Camping Platanitsi.
Platanitsi is one of the most beautiful and well-organized campsites in Halkidiki: a wide beach, clear water, tall pine trees providing shade over the tent areas, and a calm atmosphere that welcomes us after a full day.
Here we will set up camp, prepare dinner, and enjoy some well-deserved rest in the quiet by the sea.
Overnight price: 8 euros per person and 8 euros per tent, payable directly to the campsite management.
Paddling distance for the day: approximately 16 km
Difficulty level according to distance: 3 out of 4
Iconic beaches, wild coves, and a starlit finale at Diaporos
After waking up among the pine trees of Platanitsi and a short morning preparation, we launch the kayaks. Today’s route passes through some of the most photogenic beaches of Sithonia – a combination of crystal-clear waters, rock formations, and fine white sand. This is the day with the greatest number of scenic stops.
Portokali Beach (Orange Beach) – the first magic of the day
We pass by the famous Portokali Beach – a place that looks as if it were taken straight from a Caribbean catalog. The beach is known for its turquoise waters, white granite rocks shimmering in the sun, and shallow lagoons ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
If we find a suitable place to land, we will stop briefly for a rest and photos.
First official stop – Paradise Beach (Kavourotrypes)
The first major break is at Paradise Beach (Kavourotrypes) – one of the most beautiful beaches in Sithonia.
Kavourotrypes is a series of small coves, crystal-clear pools, and rock terraces shaped by nature. The spot is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. Here we will recharge and enjoy the calm water.
Lunch – Camping Armenistis
We continue toward Camping Armenistis – one of the largest and most beloved campsites in Halkidiki.
The beach is wide, with fine sand, calm waters, and views toward Mount Athos. Here we will have lunch, and those who wish can enjoy the campsite facilities – a shop, restaurant, café, and plenty of shade under the pine trees.
Afternoon – Robinson Beach
After lunch, we head toward Robinson Beach – a wild, secluded beach that is difficult to access by land but ideal by kayak.
The beach is surrounded by high cliffs, and the water is so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom. Perfect for a short break, swimming, and stunning photos.
Bahia Beach Bar – rhythm, relaxation, and turquoise hues
We continue to Bahia Beach Bar – a small, stylish beach with crystal-clear water and a gently sloping seabed.
The beach is known for its chill-out vibe, wooden terraces above the water, and relaxed atmosphere. Here we will take another break before the final paddle of the day.
Karidi Beach – one of the symbols of Vourvourou
After Bahia, we head to the legendary Karidi Beach – known for its white sand, shallow turquoise waters, and rocky “gateways” that lead into a natural lagoon. This is one of the most photographed places in Halkidiki and our last major stop for the day.
Final point – Camping Rea (overnight)
The end of today’s route is Camping Rea, located directly opposite Diaporos Island.
Here we will settle in, organize our gear, and enjoy a well-deserved evening rest. The waves in this bay are gentle, and the view toward Diaporos is magical.
The overnight stay at Camping Rea costs 10 euros per night (a specially negotiated rate for Dopamine Team participants). The amount is paid personally on site, directly to the campsite management.

Final calm waters, views toward Ormos Panagias, and the journey home
Today we continue the route north of Camping Rea, enjoying the final kilometers on the water in some of the most sheltered and calm bays of Sithonia.
Our first stop is on a sandy beach located opposite the small rocky islet with the chapel built literally in the water.
This spot is one of the most iconic along the entire route — quiet, harmonious, and extremely photogenic. We will have time for photos, a short break, and final moments in the turquoise waters of Vourvourou.
Our next stop is Ormos Panagias, where we will have lunch at a seaside tavern.
We will recharge our energy and enjoy the panoramic view over the bay — a place where the sea always seems to breathe more slowly.
Wrap-up and preparation for departure.
In the afternoon, all together we:
✅ clean the equipment,
✅ organize the gear,
✅ wash and load the kayaks onto the trailers.
Around 14:30 we depart.
We will make a short stop in Nikiti for gyros and a walk along the seaside promenade, after which we head back toward Bulgaria.
Expected arrival in front of “Vasil Levski” Stadium – around 22:00.
