In the Slavyanka Mountains, the Ali boot reserve is located.
Along the ridge of the mountain passes the state border between Bulgaria and Greece, and half of its area is on the territory of Greece. Its highest point is Gotsev Peak (2212m), located on the border line itself.
In autumn, the mountain is particularly beautiful with its yellow colours and dripping hazel, and the colours and photos are amazing.
According to legend, the local warlord Ilia (Ali) used to roam the area of Mount Slavyanka during Turkish times. He was distinguished by great physical strength and courage. Eventually, however, he was captured by the Turks and handed over to the local bey for trial.
The program is a two-day mountain hike and overnight in a lodge.
It is suitable for everyone with good physical fitness, as well as for children over 14 years.

The bey had heard much about Ali's actions and was inclined to show some mercy, which is why he said, "I have no power to give you life. For this I will give you one chance to win your freedom!" They filled the haidutin's boots with boiling tar, put them on him, and let him run free. Ali ran, managed to run to the highest peak of the mountain and there breathed his last. Since then, the mountain has been named Ali Boot in honour of the brave Kaidutin.
Program:
We gather in front of Vasil Levski stadium at 9.00 and leave at 09.30 at the latest.
Our first stop will be in the village of Zlatolist where we will visit the temple of Reverend Stoina

We leave the cars at the center and hike to Slavyanka hut where we will spend the night.
The hut is a former border post, renovated under a European project.
The hike for this day is 7.7km with 438 meters of vertical drop.
After breakfast at the hut, we set off for Maly Tsarev Peak and Gotsev Peak. We have lunch on Gotsev peak and go down through Shabran peak to the village of Golešovo.
The view from Gotsev Peak in clear weather is remarkable and you can see 22 mountains in Bulgaria, Greece and Macedonia.
The hike this day is of medium difficulty, about 20 km with a total vertical drop of 1600 meters and is suitable for people in good physical shape.
It is recommended to bring 3 liters of water and food according to everyone's needs.
Note: The organisers reserve the right to change the programme depending on weather conditions in order to maximise the safety of participants.
You can participate with private transport or use the shared transport departing from Vasil Levski Stadium.
The mountain events we organize are for beginners as well as people with experience but with good physical preparation, children over a certain age can participate if described in the event. Each event has published the distance and approximate vertical drop we will cover on the day. It is intended that there will be a short break every hour.
