Code:D00347T
If you want to be part of a true sea adventure and paddle around an island whose shores seem to glow in turquoise, then Diaporos is a place that will inevitably captivate you.
Located in the bay of Vourvourou, on the Sithonia peninsula, the island lies just a few minutes from the shore, yet the feeling is as if you’ve entered a separate, self-contained world – calm, bright, and almost surreal.
Its coastline is richly sculpted, dotted with dozens of small bays, natural channels and sandbanks, where the water is shallow, crystal clear, and warm. The sea around it shifts from light turquoise shades to deep blue, creating some of the most impressive color palettes in the Aegean Sea.
Thanks to its sheltered geographic position, the bays around Diaporos are almost always calm, without waves and with minimal swell — ideal conditions for sea kayaking, training, and free exploration.
The event lasts four days, but if you don’t have enough time, you can join us one day later without missing the essential part of the experience.

Diaporos is one of the most captivating places in the Aegean Sea – an island where nature has blended turquoise waters, fine white sands and whimsical granite formations into a harmony rarely seen even in Halkidiki.
Located in the protected bay of Vourvourou, Diaporos offers a unique sense of tranquility: shallow warm waters, no waves, and numerous natural lagoons accessible only by kayak.
Its coastline is richly carved — dozens of small coves, sandbars, narrow channels and hidden beaches where the sea takes on almost unreal shades of blue. Among them stands the famous Blue Lagoon — a shallow channel between Diaporos and the islet of Agia, known for its crystal-clear water, bright sands and characteristic turquoise glow. It is one of the most popular swimming and snorkeling spots in the region.
Inside the island and around the shallow areas lie natural “inner seas” — calm, protected water basins, ideal for learning and improving sea kayaking skills.
Program:
Arrival in Ormos Panagias and first encounter with Diaporos
Meeting time is 05:30 in front of “Vasil Levski” Stadium, and at 06:00 we depart from Sofia.
Our first break is in the Kresna region — time for pastries, supplies and water before continuing towards the Aegean coastline.
Around noon we arrive in Ormos Panagias. We stop for coffee and a snack, buy fresh fish from the local fish market, and head to Camping Rea, located directly across from Diaporos Island.
Together we unload the equipment and kayaks, set up the camp, and after a short rest we begin the safety briefing.
We then head to the first beaches of Diaporos Island. The day is dedicated to training and refining basic paddling techniques so we can enter the next days with confidence.
Shortly before sunset we return to the campsite. In the evening we light the barbecue, prepare dinner, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere by the sea.
Paddling distance for the day: approx. 6 km
Difficulty level according to distance: 1 out of 4
Islets, lagoons and the rhythm of Talgo
This is the day when the participants who chose the three-day adventure join the group. To fully take part, they must arrive at the campsite no later than 09:30, complete the briefing and receive their equipment.
Today we explore the coastline north of the campsite.
Our first stop is a sandy beach located opposite the small rocky island with a chapel built literally in the water — one of the most emblematic and peaceful places in the region, and among the most photogenic spots on the route.
Next stop — lunch at a beachfront taverna in Ormos Panagias, where we recharge and enjoy the view of the bay.
In the afternoon we continue toward the iconic Talgo Beach. We visit the famous Talgo Beach Bar, where the rhythm of the DJ sets creates an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Sithonia.
In the evening we can fire up the barbecue again or visit the campsite’s taverna.
Paddling distance for the day: approx. 14 km with three breaks
Difficulty level according to distance: 2 out of 4
The Circumnavigation of Diaporos and the Blue Lagoon
After breakfast and coffee, along with preparing sandwiches for the day, we launch the kayaks and head toward Diaporos Island. Today we are completing a full circumnavigation of the island, and during the breaks we will enjoy sandy beaches and swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea.
Three breaks are planned.
The first is at the southeastern beach of Diaporos — a quiet and peaceful spot, perfect for swimming and a short rest.
The second break is at the Blue Lagoon — the most iconic place in the northeastern part of the island. Here the water is emerald, the seabed is bright and shallow, and the colors feel almost unreal. This is also the most visited area, so we will make a longer stop here and have lunch.
Please note that there are no restaurants or tavernas on the island — you must bring enough food and water for the entire day.
We continue the circumnavigation, and the third break is in the inner part of the island, where we leave the kayaks and take a short hike to a small emerald beach overlooking the Blue Lagoon — one of the most spectacular panoramic spots on Diaporos.
For the evening, we have planned an organized dinner at a traditional taverna in Vourvourou, where we will end the day with great food and a seaside atmosphere.
Paddling distance for the day: approx. 14 km with three breaks
Difficulty level according to distance: 2 out of 4
We meet at 09:30 at the kayaks.
This is our final day and it is dedicated to short, focused paddling sessions and practical training in the bay of Camping Rea. We stay close to shore, continuing to build on the most important skills in sea kayaking.
Today's training includes
Fundamentals and kayak control
✅ proper entry and exit from the kayak at shore and shallow water;
✅ effective forward and backward paddling with correct body posture;
✅ stopping techniques and controlled speed reduction;
✅ correcting and changing direction.
Maneuvering and stability
✅ side paddling (draw stroke);
✅ maintaining stability using low brace and high brace;
✅ essential techniques for preventing capsizing.
Rescue techniques
✅ self-rescue – re-entering the kayak after falling out;
✅ assisted rescue – partner-based rescue technique.
The training is conducted primarily on single sea kayaks so each technique can be performed realistically, with proper dynamics and safety.
Those who prefer not to participate in the practical exercises may observe from a kayak nearby or stay on the beach.
Completion, preparation and departure
At 11:30 we return to the campsite. Together we clean the equipment, organize the gear, rinse the kayaks and load them onto the trailers.
Around 15:30 we depart. We will stop briefly in Nikiti for gyros and then continue toward Bulgaria.
Expected arrival at “Vasil Levski” National Stadium in Sofia – around 23:00.
Paddling distance for the day: short training paddles in the bay.
Difficulty level according to distance: 1 out of 2.
How to reach Rea Camping?
You can travel completely free with us using the vehicles we use for transporting the kayak equipment, until the 16 available seats are filled, or you may choose to travel with your own transport.
