The sea kayak tour of Sithonia is an experience that reveals the peninsula in its truest form – as it remains hidden from those who travel by land. The route follows the natural contour of the coastline, where the mountain slowly descends toward the sea, and the rocks, bays, and beaches create a continuous, living landscape.
Each day is different – from long sandy stretches and sheltered lagoons to open-sea sections and iconic beaches with bright sand and turquoise water. The overnight stays at different campsites along the route create a sense of true expedition, without losing the comfort and tranquility needed after a long day on the water.
The event is designed as a social sea journey – with time for swimming, snorkeling, conversations by the sea, and shared dinners. The pace is balanced, and the organization allows participants to focus entirely on the experience, without pressure or unnecessary stress.
This adventure is for people seeking a deep connection with the sea, movement in the rhythm of nature, and that sense of freedom that comes only when you follow the coastline with your own boat and at your own pace.
Program:
From Sofia to Nikiti: the beginning of the Sithonia tour
The meeting is at 05:30 in front of “Vasil Levski” Stadium, and at 06:00 we depart from Sofia.
Our first break is in the Kresna area – time for banichki, supplies and water before continuing on the route towards Sithonia.
Around noon we arrive in Nikiti, where we will have lunch and prepare for our expedition adventure.
After the break, we all unload the kayaks and equipment together and carry them to the beach.
We load all the gear and food into the kayaks and paddle south.
First stop – Lagomandra Beach
Our first rest stop is at Lagomandra Beach – one of the most beautiful beaches on the western side of Sithonia.
The beach is known for its fine golden sand, clear and calm water, and a long line of mountain pine trees that reach almost to the sea.
The place is well organized, with areas of sunbeds and beach bars, yet it still preserves a sense of space, nature and tranquility.
Here we will refresh and enjoy the first turquoise waters along our route.
Overnight – Camping Marmaras
After a short break we continue towards the place of our first overnight stay – Camping Marmaras.
The campsite is located in a beautiful sheltered bay with fine sand, crystal-clear water and natural protection from the wind.
The beach is peaceful, scenic and ideal for an evening swim after the paddling stage.
Once we settle in and organize the camp, we will have dinner at the campsite tavern, and those who prefer can prepare their own food. The evening ends under the stars, in the cozy atmosphere of the bay – the first true moment of our coastal adventure.
The prices for overnight stay are 8 euros per person and 8 euros per tent, paid individually to the campsite management.

The sandbar, the wild beaches of western Sithonia and a night at IZA Beach
The next morning we pack the camp and depart from Camping Marmaras.
Very soon we reach a sandbar, one of the small natural landmarks of this region. It is a narrow, bright strip of sand connecting two low land sections.
Here the sea is shallow, calm and with an exceptionally clear bottom – suitable for short photos and for carrying the kayaks across the narrowest part of the land. The place is both beautiful and symbolic: a transition from one bay to another.
First major break – Azapiko Beach
We continue southwest and reach Azapiko Beach – one of the longest and most peaceful sandy beaches in Sithonia.
The beach is wide, wild and rarely crowded, with light sand and gradually deepening blue water.
Its length and natural form make it ideal for rest, swimming and snorkeling. Here we will recharge and enjoy the views of the open Aegean Sea.
Overnight – Camping IZA
After the break we continue along the western coastline until we reach IZA Beach Camping – a place that combines a wild beach vibe with an artistic atmosphere.
The campsite is located on a spacious bay with fine sand, calm shallows and a wide strip for tents. It has a unique, almost bohemian feel – wooden structures, lights in the evening and soft music coming from the beach bar.
The beach in front of IZA is one of the cleanest and most pleasant swimming areas in western Sithonia. The water is transparent, and fish can often be seen even without a mask. The place feels like a small island bay, even though we are on a peninsula.
Here we set up the tents, organize the camp and have dinner at the campsite restaurant, or you may prepare your own food if you prefer. The evening is calm and magnetic, with views of the darkening sea and the lights of the beach bar.
The prices for overnight stay are 10 euros per person and 10 euros per tent, paid individually to the campsite management.

Crossing the cape – the wild side of Sithonia
After the break, we continue south, exiting the protected waters of Porto Koufo and entering the open Aegean Sea.
The southern cape of Sithonia is known for its dramatic landscape – steep cliffs, powerful granite formations and deep blue water beneath the kayaks.
This is the most challenging section of the route:
open water
longer stretches without the possibility to stop
strong marine presence and the feeling of a true sea expedition
The crossing is impressive, memorable and carries the sense of completing a major stage of the coastal journey.
End of day – Camping Kalamitsi
After rounding the cape, we enter calmer waters again and head toward Camping Kalamitsi – one of the most beautiful campsites in South Sithonia.
The campsite is located in a wide, protected bay with:
fine light sand,
calm, shallow water,
panoramic views of the open sea,
restaurants, bars and all amenities for a comfortable evening after a long day on the water.
Once we settle in, we have dinner at the campsite tavern, or those who prefer may prepare their own food. This is a well-deserved end to the most intense day of the expedition.
The prices for overnight stay are 8 euros per person and 8 euros per tent, paid individually to the campsite management.

from Camping Kalamitsi to Camping Armenistis
Day four Kalamitsi - Armenistis
– Iconic beaches, small bays and the coastal rhythm of Sarti
After breakfast we pack the camp, load all luggage into the kayaks and paddle north. Today we enter one of the most scenic and karst sections of eastern Sithonia – a territory of wild granite formations, transparent turquoise pools and beaches accessible mainly from the water.
First stop – Agridia Beach Bar
After a short paddle we reach Agridia – a small, sheltered sandy beach nestled between granite rocks. The water here is exceptionally clear, and the shallow lagoon provides natural protection from the wind.
It is an ideal place for an early break and refreshment.
Second stop – Sarti (lunch and walk)
We continue toward Sarti, one of the liveliest seaside towns in Sithonia.
We land on its wide sandy shore and take a well-deserved break for lunch, coffee and a stroll along the coastal promenade.
Sarti impresses with its view of Mount Athos, long golden beach and the colourful rhythm of small shops and charming taverns. Here everyone can become part of the local southern atmosphere before we continue the journey.
Third stop – Camping Platanitsi
After Sarti we head to Camping Platanitsi for a short rest.
This is one of the most pleasant beaches on the route – crystal clear water, soft sand and a pine forest forming a natural amphitheatre of shade and coolness.
The place brings a sense of calm before the next two iconic beaches.
Pass-by – Portokali Beach (Orange Beach)
We pass by Portokali Beach without stopping.
This is one of the most popular beaches in Sithonia – white granite blocks, lagoons with milky-blue water and a landscape reminiscent of the Caribbean.
We observe it from the water and continue onward to keep time for the next major stop.
Fourth stop – Paradise Beach (Kavourotrypes)
Paradise Beach / Kavourotrypes is a series of small bays, rocky terraces and crystal natural pools shaped by centuries of erosion.
Here we will take a longer break – swimming, snorkelling and relaxing in one of the most beautiful coastal scenes of Halkidiki.
Final stop – Camping Armenistis (dinner and rest)
The day ends at Camping Armenistis – one of the most spacious, well-organised and famous campsites on the peninsula.
Its wide beach, emerald water and view toward Mount Athos create the perfect atmosphere for the finale of a long adventurous day.
We will dine at the campsite tavern, and those who wish may also enjoy its amenities – restaurant, café, shop and refreshing shade beneath the tall pines.
The day is rich in beautiful beaches, characteristic rock formations and diverse rest spots – a true marathon of beauty and mood.
The prices for overnight stay are 8 euros per person and 7 euros per tent, paid individually to the campsite management.

Day five – Wild beaches, turquoise lagoons and a finale in the calm waters of Vourvourou
After waking up in Camping Armenistis and a short preparation, we launch the kayaks for the final day and head north along one of the most picturesque sections of eastern Sithonia. Today is filled with wild beaches, shallow lagoons and the characteristic granite formations of Vourvourou – a natural stage for the finale of our sea adventure.
First stop – Robinson Beach
Our first rest stop is at Robinson Beach – a wild and secluded beach, difficult to access by land but perfect for kayakers.
High cliffs protect the bay from the wind, and the crystal-clear water reveals the seabed at several meters depth.
We will take a break for swimming, snorkelling and photos – the place is a true natural scene.
Second stop – Bahia Beach Bar
We continue toward Bahia Beach Bar – a small, stylish beach with wooden terraces over the water and a distinct chill-out atmosphere.
Here the water is shallow, calm and exceptionally clear.
We will enjoy a short rest and the quiet of the bay before heading to the next iconic point.
Pass-by – Karidi Beach
We paddle past Karidi Beach – one of the symbols of Vourvourou.
The place is known for its fine white sand, turquoise shallows and granite “gates” that form a natural lagoon.
We will observe the beach from the water – one of the most beautiful sights in Sithonia.
Lunch is planned at Camping Rea, where we land for a short break and one last view toward Diaporos and the islands of Vourvourou.
Final point – Ormos Panagias
From Rea we continue to Ormos Panagias – the final point of our journey.
Here we all:
– pack the equipment,
– organise and clean the gear,
– wash and load the kayaks onto the trailers.
Departure toward Bulgaria
Around 17:00 we depart back home.
We will make a short stop in Nikiti – time for gyros, ice cream and a short walk along the seaside promenade.
